This is the burden He placed on me to undertake this project of authoring this book, which would accurately reveal the revelation that God gave me about my own personal issue of the soul. It was He that revealed to me how, in spite of 24 years of pastoring in the local church; over 30 years of public and social activism; over a thousand sermons preached; and hundreds of classes taught that the generational sin of slavery and racism in our country had darkened even my heart. He revealed to me that I am not alone! The souls of many evangelical Christians are still in bondage to bitterness, guilt, anger, fear, unforgiveness, arrogance, violence and pride that exist in our culture. This darkness has not been revealed to (or at least not acknowledged by) many sincere genuine Believers. Consequently, racism is hiding in plain sight in the church.
The Holy Spirit had to reveal to me that I was a “Closet Racist”! In fact, I really did not know that I was a racist! Besides, I am Black. I am the victim of racism. Only God could have showed me what I was not able to see within myself.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

I am not the only church member or church leader who has blind spots created by our sordid history of slavery and racism in America, our self-preserving home training, and by our many bigoted cultural experiences. The Holy Spirit must lead us to this place of truth.
I was, able to move from a place of denial, a place of hatred, a place of complacency, a place of confusion, a place of suspicion, a place of fear, a place of apathy, a place of pain, a place of unforgiveness and a place of anger; to a place of peace that God through His Son might use me as an instrument of unity and demonstration of His Love across racial lines.
